Un drôle d'oiseau

Le peintre neuchâtelois Léopold Rabus proposait, dans cette exposition, de tisser des liens entre son univers et celui d’artistes contemporains des collections du Musée d’art et d’histoire de Neuchâtel (MahN). Mandaté par les éditions Scheidegger und Spiess, l’Atelier Valenthier en a réalisé le catalogue. Il a choisi d’y juxtaposer langues allemande et française, grâce à un miroir de mise en page homothétique évoquant le regard croisé de l’artiste avec ses contemporains ou le strabisme des oiseaux qu’il peint. En collaboration avec le scénographe Raphaël von Allmen, Valenthier a également construit la trame signalétique de cette visite en guidant le visiteur au moyen d’une ligne fluorescente, inspirée de la lumière jaune émanant de la photo de couverture du catalogue. Pour la campagne d’affichage, cette ligne a été déclinée de manière aléatoire en vert, jaune ou rose fluo grâce à l’une des dernières collaborations avec le département sérigraphique de l’imprimeur Uldry AG, avant qu’il ne se consacre uniquement à l’impression digitale.

In this exhibition, the Neuchâtel painter Léopold Rabus proposed to weave links between his universe and that of contemporary artists from the collections of the Museum of Art and History of Neuchâtel (MahN). Commissioned by the Scheidegger und Spiess publishing house, Atelier Valenthier produced the catalogue. It has chosen to juxtapose the German and French languages, thanks to a homothetic layout mirror, evoking the artist’s crossed gaze with his contemporaries or the squint of the birds he paints. In collaboration with the scenographer Raphaël von Allmen, Valenthier also built the signage framework for this visit by guiding the visitor with a fluorescent line, inspired by the yellow light emanating from the cover photo of the catalogue. For the poster campaign, this line was randomly declined in green, yellow or fluorescent pink thanks to one of the last collaborations with the screen printing department of the printer Uldry AG, before it devoted itself solely to digital printing.
