Alternatives Autochtones

For this new 10-month temporary exhibition, the Geneva Museum of Ethnography focused on the fundamental link between human nations and their ecosystems. It wished to give a voice to the peoples who are on the front line of the climate crisis and to emphasise eco-design and the re-use of materials. By favouring the use of recyclable cardboard as much as possible, Atelier Valenthier worked closely with the scenographers to design a layout system in the form of a toolbox, which can be entirely modified according to the format of the text supports. This was an opportunity to test the resilience of an adaptive typography recently designed by a Lausanne foundry, but also to experiment with a new way of graphic marking by removing material rather than adding it, particularly in the structure of the title, which symbolises a reconstituted wreck.
