The story of one cell dividing into two, four, eight and more… to give rise to a hand, an eye, a hear, a brain

« Un conte scientifique illustré relatant la création de la vie, de la toute première cellule jusqu’à la naissance d’un enfant. Souhaitant impliquer les adolescents dans ce projet, l’auteure Vivienne Baillie Gerritsen a fait appel au Centre de formation des arts appliqués de la Ville de Genève. Durant 3 mois, elle a travaillé avec une trentaine d’étudiants, en vue d’illustrer le conte. Les illustrations d’Amélie Frison ont été choisies pour la beauté du trait et leur justesse biologique. »
Mise en page du conte par L’Atelier Valenthier qui s’est astreint à créer un pont délicat entre littérature et biologie.

“An illustrated science story about the creation of life, from the very first cell to the birth of a child. Wishing to involve teenagers in this project, the author Vivienne Baillie Gerritsen called on the Centre de formation des arts appliqués de la Ville de Genève. For three months, she worked with some thirty students to illustrate the tale. Amélie Frison’s illustrations were chosen for the beauty of their line and their biological accuracy.”
The story was designed by l’Atelier Valenthier, which endeavoured to create a delicate bridge between literature and biology.
